Peppermint Crisp Tart Recipe

Peppermint Crisp Tart is a firm South African favorite—one of the most iconic desserts if you ask me! It’s a no-bake delight that’s creamy, minty, and has just the right amount of crunch. It’s also one of the most popular recipes people shop for at The South African Shop here in Canada. Here’s how you can make this classic dessert at home.

Ingredients

  • 4 Peppermint Crisp chocolate bars (crushed)
  • 1 can (360g) Caramel Treat (cooked condensed milk)
  • 1 pack Tennis Biscuits (coconut-flavored biscuits)
  • 500ml whipping cream

Instructions

  1. Crush the Peppermint Crisps: Place the chocolate bars in a Ziploc bag and use a rolling pin to crush them into fine pieces. Set aside.
  2. Prepare the caramel: Scoop the Caramel Treat into a mixing bowl. Use a hand mixer to smooth it out into a creamy texture.
  3. Whip the cream: In another bowl, whip the cream until it forms stiff peaks.
  4. Combine caramel and cream: Gently fold the smoothed caramel into the whipped cream. Be careful not to overmix, as you want to keep the mixture light and fluffy.
  5. Add the chocolate: Mix half of the crushed Peppermint Crisp into the cream and caramel mixture. Stir gently to distribute evenly.
  6. Layer the tart: In your serving dish, start with a layer of Tennis Biscuits. Cover the biscuits with a layer of the cream mixture, spreading it out evenly. Repeat this process to create a second layer of biscuits and cream.
  7. Top with chocolate: Sprinkle the remaining crushed Peppermint Crisp over the top of the tart for a beautiful finish.
  8. Chill and serve: Place the tart in the fridge for at least 4 hours to set. Once ready, slice and serve. Enjoy every minty, creamy bite!

Tips for the Best Peppermint Crisp Tart

  • Make ahead: This tart is even better the next day, so consider making it a day in advance for maximum flavor.
  • Alternative biscuits: If you can’t find Tennis Biscuits, try using graham crackers or any mildly sweet, coconut-flavored biscuit.
  • Serving size: This recipe fits a medium-sized serving dish perfectly. Double the recipe if you’re feeding a crowd!

Enjoy!

Whether you’re introducing someone to South African flavors or simply indulging in nostalgia, Peppermint Crisp Tart never disappoints. It’s easy to make, utterly delicious, and guaranteed to be a hit at any gathering!
