The Easiest, Most Lekker Peppermint Crisp Tart Recipe (Just Like Home!)

The Easiest, Most Lekker Peppermint Crisp Tart Recipe (Just Like Home!)

Howzit!

Let's be honest. Living in Canada is pretty amazing. But sometimes... sometimes you just get a craving for home, hey? You miss the sunshine, you miss the familiar accents, and you really miss the food.

There's one dessert that fixes homesickness faster than anything else. It's the king of Sunday lunch, the champion of the post-braai dessert, and the one thing your Canadian friends will absolutely devour in two seconds flat.

We're talking about the one, the only: Peppermint Crisp Tart.

The best part? It's so easy. No-bake, easy-peasy, and we’ve got all the proper, real-deal ingredients right here, so you don't have to hunt around for them.

Let's get into it!

What You'll Need (The Real-Deal Goods)

Forget the substitutes. You can't make a proper Peppermint Crisp Tart without the proper stuff. We've got you covered.

  • 1 tin (360g) Nestlé Caramel Treat. (No, you don't need to boil a tin of condensed milk for three hours like your Ouma did. We've got the good stuff right here!)

  • 1 packet (200g) Bakers Tennis Biscuits. (The original and the best. Accept no substitutes!)

  • 4 Nestlé Peppermint Crisp Chocolates.

  • 500ml fresh cream (Whipping cream, 33%... just grab it from your local shop)

  • A square-ish dish – about 20cm x 20cm is perfect.

Short on time? We've got a Delicious Peppermint Crisp Tart Kit with the biscuits, caramel, and chocolate all in one. Just add the cream!

How to Make Your Lekker Tart

Okay, grab your coffee or rooibos, put on some good music, and let's go.

Step 1: Smash the Chocolate

  • Open your Peppermint Crisp bars, put them in a Ziplock Bag, and give it a good whack with a rolling pin or the side of a tin. You want to smash it into lekker crunchy, minty bits.

Step 2: Whip the Cream

  • Pour your fresh cream into a big bowl.

  • Whip it with an electric beater (or by hand if you're feeling strong!) until it forms stiff peaks. You know, when you lift the beater and the cream stands up straight.

Step 3: Make the Magical Mousse

  • In another bowl, scoop out your tin of Nestlé Caramel Treat. Give it a quick stir to loosen it up.

  • Now, gently fold the whipped cream into the caramel. Don't beat it, just fold it in nicely.

  • Fold in about 2 thirds of your smashed-up Peppermint Crisp bits. Just like that, you've made the world's most delicious mousse.

Step 4: Layer Up!

This is the fun part.

  1. Place a single, neat layer of Bakers Tennis Biscuits at the bottom of your dish. You might have to break a few to fill the gaps. That's no problem.

  2. Spread half of your creamy caramel-mint mixture over the biscuit layer.

  3. Add another full layer of Tennis Biscuits on top of the cream.

  4. Spread the rest of the cream mixture all over the top. Make it nice and smooth.

Step 5: The Grand Finale (and the Hard Part)

  • Sprinkle your left over crushed peppermint crisps over the top. Be generous! This is the crown this dessert deserves.
  • Now, the hard part: Cover your tart and put it in the fridge for at least 4 hours. I know, I know, it's torture. But it needs this time for the biscuits to get all soft and cakey. Trust me.

To Serve:

Dish it up in big squares. Make a nice cup of tea. Close your eyes, take a bite, and get that instant taste of home.

And that's it! A certified, 100% authentic, Saffa-approved dessert, right from your kitchen in Canada.
